STRATEGIC METHODS OF READING AND UNDERSTANDING FAST

STRATEGIC METHODS OF READING AND UNDERSTANDING FAST

This presentation will be of guide to your reading and understanding any article, scripts you are
 reading
.Reading is not difficult rather what is hard is not knowing why,how and what one wants to read,it is important that this article should be written to assist someone in knowing what to read and when to read, funny enough!reading is more of passion and interest, therefore, this article is not limited to any individual rather it is meant for everybody.this is not magic anyway,it is still what someone can comfortably understand,.Here are the following cardinal points one can  follow inorder to grasp very fast what he/she is reading.
1.scanning the words or text
2.know where to ask questions from
3.concentrate very well
4.do not focus on every text or word
4.Be mindful of sections you read
5.summarize your work
6.Be time conscious

                  SCANNING THE TEXTS OR WORDS

Scanning through a text or word you are reading will help you to comprehenend very fast.so, to scan means to pay  attention strictly on headings, subheadings,or texts or words that appear to be improtant .Inorder to get a better understanding of what you are reading, preview the introductory parts and concluding parts of the work.Make sure you figure out sentences, critically examine the images and try to deduce what the writer had in mind by writin such work

                    KNOW TO ASK QUESTIONS FROM

This consists of knowing about the goals you  want to achieve in the work you are reading. What do you want to learn by reading the material? Jot down some questions you want to be able to answer by the end. Then, determine the author’s goal in writing the material, based on your preview.for instance, the authors's goal might be to know the meaning of philosophy, while your goal is to list the types of philosophy and in that case your scope might be limited to what the author has in mind.
Basically ,your question should come directly from what you are reading, whether scentific or legal.

                   CONCENTRATE VERY WELL

Reading fastly deserves a conducive place which can bring about good concentrations.Reduce external
noise making. If you notice that you’re fantasizing about your next meal rather than focusing on the text, gently bring your mind back to the material. Many readers read a few sentences passively, without focus, then spend time going back and re-reading to make sure they understand them. According to author Tim Ferriss, this habit, called regression, will significantly slow you down and make it harder to get a big picture view of the text. If you carefully and attentively approach a text, you'll quickly realize if you’re not understanding a section, saving you time in the long run.

DO NOT FOCUS ON EVERY WORD OR TEXT

What is important here is to increase your speed of reading, paying attention to your eyes,Rather than reading each word individually, move your eyes in a scanning motion, jumping from a chunk (of three to five words) to the next chunk of words. Take advantage of your peripheral vision to speed up around the beginning and end of each line, focusing on blocks of words rather than the first and last words.

Pointing your finger or a pen at each chunk of words will help you learn to move your eyes quickly over the text. And it will encourage you not to subvocalize as you read. Subvocalization, or silently pronouncing each

BE MINDFUL OF SECTIONS YOU READ

NOwsdays, people should be reading what is contained in the text, its sections and so on ,so that it can help you digest the main points.Reading selectively will make it possible for you to digest the main points of many texts, rather than only having time to fully read a couple.

                     SUMMARIZE YOUR WORK

your work does not finish by reading only the work  rather to pay attention so that  one can  jot down what one has read Did you learn what you were hoping to learn? By spending a few minutes after reading to think, synthesize the information, and write what you learned, you’ll solidify the material in your mind and have better recall later. If you’re a more visual or verbal learner, draw a mind map summary or tell someone what you learned.

                       BE TIME CONSCIOUS

Strategically, reading effectively and summarizing what you have read tkaes alot of pratice. If you want to improve your reading speed, use a timer to test how many words (or pages) per minute you can read. As you’re able to read faster and faster, check in with yourself to make sure you’re happy with your level of comprehension.
